Stetson Law requires all students to complete a first-year program that establishes students in the fundamental academic foundations of American legal education: civil procedure, constitutional law, contracts, criminal law, property, and tort. During the first two semesters, students also take a course that covers the basics of legal research and writing. In its third semester (for full-time students), Stetson Law requires students to take one course in evidence and one course in professional liability.
Prior to graduation, students must also take elective courses that meet the requirements of an administrative law course as well as the Code of Rules. Students pursuing their J.D. after a part-time evening program have the same requirements, even if they are spread over their first five semesters.
